Hi Guys,

I want to report a problem with playing MKV 720P files/movies on apple tv 2 xbmc Eden 11_b3 version.
After I try to start a movie, xbmc exits back to default apple tv2 menu.

Are you trying to play Mission Impossible Ghost Protocol 2011 .720p.BluRay.x264-DON.avi?

Can anything play it? I'm thinking this is a fake file.

That is not a fake file. It plays fine on my win7 PC.
I have The Boys in Company C (1978) in 720p DTS which plays ok though.
but then I have other 720p which have the same symptom as MI.

Even if it wasn't a fake file it STILL wouldn't play back well on the ATV2. h264 has to be in either an mp4 or mkv container or it can't be accelerated by the ATV2's GPU.

Most all avi is mpeg4 part2, h264 is mpeg4 part 10. MediaInfo will probe and tell you what is inside.
