Seagate Drives
#1
Hi,

I was going to get a Seagate Green 2TB drive for my new HP N40L home server box.

I am running WHS 2011 and DriveBender.

However I can't find any of the 5900rpm drives in stock.

Therefore I was going to grab a Barracuda 7200RPM 2 TB (ST2000DM001).

Other than noise concerns and a higher startup power (I dont mind noise the box will be in a cupboard under the stairs) - should I have other concerns with a faster drive (I know it will be slightly more power hungry - but I would hardly notice it, right?).

My main concern is - if I add other green drives to the machine, will I have issues with mixed speeds. I doubt I will raid them - unless DriveBender causes major headaches.

Cheers,
km
