XBMC Fails to Launch
#1
I've been happily running XBMC 11.0 Eden Beta 3 since it's release. I tried to launch XBMC today and it closes without reporting any error. I then tried to launch the other beta versions I keep handy, along with RC1 and 10.1, but all fail in the same manner.

Quote:Crashed Thread: 11

Exception Type: EXC_BAD_ACCESS (SIGSEGV)
Exception Codes: KERN_INVALID_ADDRESS at 0x000000000c28fff0
Here's the full crash report:

I've been looking through the crash report and system log, but nothing jumps out at me as the culprit, or nothing I know to look for. I've run a repair on disk permissions (thinking it could be permissions on the Application Support or something else in the user library). Under another local account, everything seems fine.

And yes, I've even tried that...

I get this chunk from the system log when I launch XBMC.

Here is part of the XBMC log as well.

It looks like it could be permissions errors, but I can't tell exactly what they should be. Any suggestions?

The log file shows XBMC cleanly shutting down - sounds like it's not what you're experiencing at all (old log?)
Always read the XBMC online-manual, FAQ and search the forum before posting.
Do not e-mail XBMC-Team members directly asking for support. Read/follow the forum rules.
For troubleshooting and bug reporting please make sure you read this first.

The log shows modified at the latest attempt to launch XBMC. As soon as I launch XBMC, it quits. Here's the entries from that series of events. Seems like permissions errors exist, but the resources referenced are 777.

I tried targeting the Mini from another Mac, ran Disk Warrior, rebuilt the directory and repaired permissions. Rebooted, still same issue.

In the end, it seemed that nothing I did to correct the permissions on the Application Support or Logs folders or contents made any difference. I had to trash them all to get XBMC working again, which meant that I now have to rebuild my configuration. Oh well, at least it's working again. It's basically a full uninstall, but it's the only thing that worked...
