XBMCbuntu Eden Beta 3 - Slow to start playback after idle
#1
I've got Eden Beta 3 and have been meaning to post about this for a while now: I've noticed that if my Acer Revo 1600 has been idle for a while, when I try to play a video it takes a bit of time to start up. Subsequent videos start up fine. For what it's worth, I believe this happened in 9.04 but I hadn't seen it in Dharma. Is there an Nvidia power management setting that needs to be enabled somewhere?

Sounds like your drives are spinning down when idle. You can check what state a disk is in using the command:

Quote:sudo hdparm -C /dev/sdX

I'll do this when I get home. FWIW, none of the content is on the machine running XBMC. It's all networked, so if you're talking about the media drives spinning down, this shouldn't be a factor.
