I do #2 using EventGhost - works perfectly and costs $60 less than using the CEC device (which is not 100% functional with XBMC/EG from what I've read)
@Livin, would it be at all possible for you to share this EventGhost process? I'm having this particular issue where XBMC default to Fullscreen #1 whenever the TV is off (and must be manually "reset" to Fullscreen #2 in settings), but would also like to dim JUST my primary monitor with some key combination in EventGhost. I know its not strictly the same thing as this post, but I think I could figure out the rest if I saw that eventghost process. Thanks!
