DD TrueHD and DTS-MA with Radeon 5450
#1
Hi,
I am using XBMC 11.0-PVR on Ubuntu 11.10 all running on a Asus M578L-M/USB3, Radeon 5450, AMD Phenom II X4. Using an DD TrueHD and DTS-MA capeable reciever...
Now XBMC is running quite well as well as Live TV; However I can only bitstream DD or DTS. HD-Audio always only playes the core audio.
I have turned 'Passthrough' on and I am using the Device "hdmi:CARD=Generic,DEV=0" which works just fine for regular DD and DTS. I did some reading in this forum and all around the Google searches but I found no way to get the HD bitstream working. I would like to know if someone here can tell me if it's possible to stream HD-Audio on Ubuntu 11.10 using XBMC via hdmi with a 5450. And if so where I can find the needed information. I would hate to switch to W7 but HD-Audio works at least.
Thank you for any reply on this issue and I will try to be quick if you need anymore information...

Thanks for the link.
Does this count for all HD-audio cards (or just AMD)? Are there any other work arounds? Like this? Is it adviceable to switch to a nVidia card for hdmi-audio? Pleas let me know if there are other ways to get HD-audio to work under Linux... And where can I find all the things needed for compiling AE branch?

HD audio decoding won't be available in Linux until Audio Engine is incorporated, unless you want to compile your own build. That's the long and short of it.
