[SOLVED] Screen goes blank (black) when in fullscreen mode
#16
Sorry, forgot to do Pastebin. I've done that now. Here's the link.

The dimming happens somewhere here:

Quote:23:18:56 T:4604 DEBUG: ------ Window Init (MyMusicSongs.xml) ------
23:18:56 T:4604 INFO: Loading skin file: MyMusicSongs.xml
23:18:56 T:4604 DEBUG: CGUIMediaWindow::GetDirectory ()
23:18:56 T:4604 DEBUG: ParentPath = []
23:18:56 T:4604 DEBUG: RetrieveMusicInfo() took 0 msec
23:18:56 T:4616 DEBUG: Thread Background Loader start, auto delete: 0
23:18:56 T:4616 DEBUG: Thread Background Loader 4616 terminating
23:18:57 T:4604 DEBUG: CApplication:TonguerocessMouse: trying mouse action leftclick
23:18:57 T:4604 INFO: Loading skin file: DialogMediaSource.xml
23:18:57 T:4604 DEBUG: ------ Window Init (DialogMediaSource.xml) ------

I then left it blank a while, to make it easier to see where I'd interacted in the log. The screen comes back here:

Quote:23:19:08 T:4604 DEBUG: SDLKeyboard: scancode: 01, sym: 001b, unicode: 001b, modifier: 0
23:19:08 T:4604 DEBUG: CApplication::OnKey: escape (f01b) pressed, action is PreviousMenu

I had the same problem here. I'm using a 6850 for my TV and Primary monitor and a 3870 for my two secondary monitor. Only the TV was enabled at the time, however, I was using Ultramon and the Aeon skin.

Oh well... Never did get this screen dimming issue fixed on my PC. But the good news is that I've got XBMC now installed on Windows Server on my HP Proliant Microserver (with ATi 5450), and the problem is not happening there.

It looks like this was never an XBMC issue. I've noticed it also happens in Call Of Duty MW3. Only on certain menus, i.e. "Leave lobby" and "Quit". As with XBMC, when I go to these menus, the screen immediately dims to black. If I press a key to back out of the menu, the screen comes back immediately.

Bizarre.

So... What have I changed recently? (It must be due to a recent change, since MW3 has always worked fine before.) I recently switched my 22-inch monitor for a 23-inch Iiyama. The new one is connected to the DVI port on my graphics card, while the old one was connected to the VGA port. I'm wondering if it's something to do with this.

I came to realise this was affecting a lot of my games, and I was starting to despair!

But then I found a setting on my Iiyama called "Advanced Contrast", which was enabled. I turned it off, and now the problem has gone away! So, it was all down to the monitor!!! Not an XBMC problem at all! Thought it would be useful to update you all, in case somebody else stumbles across the same issue.

Hi Guys,
I am still having the same issue. I have got no idea where to begin to fix it now. I'm using a Panasonic Viera 50inch TV. I only have the problem watching video in full screen mode while using XBMC. If i watch using VLC it works fine. Does anyone have any suggestions for me?? It's doing my head in.
