hopefully I explain this well as my Linux knowledge is lacking

on my previous xbmc live install that i upgraded to xbmcbuntu I think I had a root share setup so that i could browse into it from a windows pc
I could browse right into my revo 1600 and had full access to everything
mainly i would transfer zip files for add ons so i could do an install from zip....transfer over folder for cinema experience...custom backdrops

I am guessing i setup samba access ....im sorry but believe me i am guessing here
I need to have that same access from a windows pc to be able to transfer files into my revo

hopefully that can explain what im after

If I'm reading you right I think you are wanting to set up Windows File Server on XBMC.

I've used the instructions at the following address on both Dharma and a beta of Eden and these allowed me to access my XBMC media content from my Windows 7 Explorer.

You could also install dropbox on your live box and then just download from your other PC to a share. That's how I do it.
