Linux certain files have no audio on xbmcbuntu eden
#1
i hated my xbmc on a windows machine due to MS time bombing the OS and not having a free version. so i dumped that and am now running xbmc buntu 11, i just upgraded to the full last night

my machine is running an nvidia gforce 520 and my tv is the primary monitor with an hdmi cable

i have a running problem tho, certain files will have no audio. below is a log snip from one of those files

my log file:

i have no idea where any of my other configuration files are located on this machine so if you wish to see another file, please give me a path for it and i will be glad to post it.

last night i had another file that wasn't working right, i found a suggestion that said to turn off the setting saying i have a passthrough receiver. that solved that particular file, but i still have a handful of them that don't work.

here's the codec information for the file in question here via VLC
Stream 0
Type: Video
Codec: MPEG-4 Video (XVID)
Resolution: 640x352
Frame rate: 23.976000
Stream 1
Type: Audio
Codec: A52 Audio (aka AC3) (a52 )
Channels: Dolby
Sample rate: 48000 Hz
Bitrate: 192 kb/s

this file started working when i disabled the pass thru receiver setting
Stream 0
Type: Video
Codec: H264 - MPEG-4 AVC (part 10) (avc1)
Language: English
Resolution: 1280x536
Frame rate: 23.976215
Stream 1
Type: Audio
Codec: DTS Audio (dts )
Language: English
Channels: 3F2R/LFE
Sample rate: 48000 Hz
Bitrate: 1536 kb/s

and this is another file that i know still doesn't work
Stream 0
Type: Video
Codec: MPEG-4 Video (XVID)
Language: English
Resolution: 640x352
Frame rate: 25
Stream 1
Type: Audio
Codec: A52 Audio (aka AC3) (a52 )
Language: English
Channels: Dolby
Sample rate: 48000 Hz
Bitrate: 192 kb/s

Again, please let me know if there are any other configuration files you want to see, just let me know where they are located.

thanks

i fixed this, as soon as i reread my post and looked at the audio screens i knew what the problem was. all the files that were not working have a channels of Dolby. i went into xbmc and turned off the setting that says my receiver has dolby and rebooted and all the files started working.
