Playback issues with XBMCbuntu & Lenovo Q180
#1
Hey all,

I recently decided to upgrade from an Acer Revo 3600 running XBMCLive 9.11 to a Lenovo Q180 running the newly released 11.0 Eden

The Q180 has an Intel D2700 processor and the AMD Radeon 6450 HD graphics card.

After setting everything up (still working on getting the sound to play through HDMI, as it seems many people are with their setups...) I am having issues with the video playback of my 1080p movie rips that never happened with the (weaker) Revo. Not really sure how to describe the issue, so I took a video of it. Please see here (look at the top of the video):

I've done a lot of searching on the boards but am still unsure of what my problem (& solution) may be...

1) Did I make a mistake in getting a setup with an AMD graphics card if I wanted to use XBMCbuntu? (I've gotten the impression that Linux doesn't love AMD)

2) If it's not an unfixable compatibility issue, what can I try tweaking to get playback running smoothly?

Thanks!

Considering the high amount of posts on the Linux forums, thought I'd bump this one... still looking for any advice, thanks =)

PS- I'm not sure if people would want my codec information since as I said my movies works fine on the older Acer Revo with Live 9.11... but just in case, my 1080p movies are mkv's ripped with Handbrake, and as far as I know, within the 4.1 level standard.

First decide what functions / features you expect from a system. Then decide for the hardware. Don't waste your money on crap.
