Leaving the good old xbox behind
#1
Its been a hell of a ride the last few years but its time to upgrade from the original xbox, I love xbmc and have considered a few options but have no idea which is best because I've been out of the loop for a while now.
I would mainly like to be able to watch 720/1080p on it and also hd youtube videos, after looking at my options as far as apple tv, standalones and buiding an htpc, I have decided to go with the standalone. The problem is I have no idea which system is the most reliable/stable with xbmc.
Here is what i have considered please help me pick one i would greatly appreciate it.

The atom is just so underpowered nowadays. I just think you could do better for those prices.

To each his own.

If you're uncertain about building, then take a look at a barebones. For example, this one is modelled after the popular "A6-PACK" build here on these forums: http://www.ecosmartpc.com/ei5a63500.html.

If you're after a fully configured HTPC, these guys do a great job: http://assassinhtpc.com/
