Hi, am new to all this XBMC stuff so go easy on me, (It is amazing though)

My current setup is I use a dedicated server with Mediaportal backend on to stream live TV to XBMC using the Media Portal plugin. This works great, however the picture quality isn't that amazing..
My network is entirely gigabit so there should be no bandwidth issues. I have had a look around all the settings, enabled hardware processing, and even tried using the advancedsettings.xml file and tweaking that but the picture quality still isn't improving.
t has Horizontal lines across etc..

What am I doing wrong? Also how do I know if I am using a DX or GL build?

Uess you downloaded a specific build for Open GL, then you are running DX. Open GL was dropped a while back.

As far as the MP backend video, I don't know. When I last tried months ago it also had issues. For me, playback was not smooth.
