In the second paragraph of this review it says "In addition to a mini-ITX motherboard in the MC-80 can only find a 2.5-inch drive and a slimline slot-in drive space."

I have not seen the inside of the case, but based on it being a mITX case I doubt there is much room for a full HD. If you don't need the slot load media drive you might be able to hack it to fit a full size HD.

I have this case. It is also known as the Iwill HT80 and is available in the USA here: http://www.ecosmartpc.com/ht80.html. You definitely cannot fit a 3.5" HDD in that case. Without the optical drive you still cannot because the 3.5" HDD is too tall to sit in the optical drive tray and close the top of the case. You will only be able to mount a 2.5" HDD/SDD under the optical drive tray if you use a 28mm heatsink. Otherwise, you have to creatively mount the SSD.

I have this case and it is theoretically possible for 3,5" drive without the ODD tray but you would need to build a bracket (not a big deal). The question is why would you use 3 1/2'? You will also need a super low CPU cooler like Gelid Slim Silence. This case is tiny and not well ventilated. A regular 3 1/2" will generate a lot of unnecessary heat. I used a SDD drive, boot up in 10 seconds with windows 7 running. 4 seconds when I use ASROCK's fastboot. Silent, cool, and quiet...use the SDD. If you need a bigger HD get a portable with USB3 or eSATA. I am using a NAS via wired internet and it works fine.

If you removed the ODD tray, does anybody know what the max cooler height is in the MS-Tech MC80 case?
Would it then be possible to use the Scythe BIG Shuriken 2 Rev. B cooler ?

I happened to have this case and a ITX motherboard with a Big Shuriken installed. I tried it and I was not able to close the top of the case. It's about 1mm too tall. Even if I could, there would be no room for it to draw air down.
