Win xbmc crash on startup (can't kill process)
#1
I've been having this weird problem,

When ever I launch xbmc for the first time everything works ok, but when I start it again after a while, xbmc stays at logo screen (V11.0 EDEN) and it never starts, I also can't close the program, nor use task manager to end process nor Force kill the process, it starts consuming CPU up to a point I need to restart PC.

I'm using Windows 7 x64.

That's all it does as for the log for current session. Anything else I should look for?

Thanks.

The point it's stopping at is where a graphics related crash often happens. I note it's an Intel GPU, and we all love Intel graphics processors. It would be worth checking the video drivers are the latest version.

If you can't kill a process this almost always means the process has hung in a call into a device driver. This is the only circumstance in which Windows cannot terminate a process (because doing so would leave the kernel in an indeterminate state).

Is it possible to change the graphic driver Xbmc uses?, I have a dedicated Nvidia Graphic card and that Intel Graphics card too.

Go to nvida control panel 3d settings/Manage 3D settings under Global settings choose High-performance NVIDA Processor.
Save settings close nvida cpanel.
start xbmc - now it should run on nvida not intel
