Hello all!

Looking for what would be the cheapest way to get xbmc on another tv in the house. Im able to hook a laptop up via hdmi and connect to my main server and stream movies PERFECTLY, but sometimes I need that laptop haha.

appleTV, something cheaper? I mean im just looking to run XBMC on it (have gigbit nic in that room as well) and stream content from my main xbmc machine.


Any ideas for something super cheap?

Apple tv 1 with Crystalbuntu on it
Look on craigslist or amazon.com
You can find them (if you wait long enough) for under $75
If you want to jazz it up - get a Broadcom Crystal HD card (~$40)

You can play 99% of the high def content and you got a remote already configured for it
Small in size and uses little power

Is this a long term device or temporary?

I am totally happy with my Apple tv1's and powerline ethernet adapters.... no wireless interference issues

Perfect redundancy is another laptop the same as you have.... a small mini computer would cost almost as much, without the convenience. I'd go with an ATV2 if you can't wait for the jb.
