Best way to stream video from hard drive attached to USB Router
#1
Question
Sorry for the explain it to me like I'm five attitude. I am really trying to solve this on my own.

I just bought a D-link HD Media Router 3000, I have a 2TB 3.0 USB hard drive hooked up to it. I cannot for the life of me figure out how to see the hard drive in xbmc. I'm running this on the latest version of openelec.

I tried UPnP, but the only folder I can see for some reason is the $RECYCLE.BIN , its very strange.

The router supports HTTP and HTTPS but I dont think thats the best way.

I had to install d-link software shareport utility for my laptop to see the hard drive as a mapped drive. The hard drive does have an IP address 192.168.0.1 while all the computers are 192.168.0.101...

Any help would be appreciated, I'd love to hide all my gear and keep my nice glass tv stand free of hard drives, routers, and eventually I'll mount the htpc to the back of my tv.

I'd greatly appreciate anyone's help. Most people on here are streaming to apple or xbox, or have a mySQL database, etc. which goes over my head. Thanks a lot.
