I have about 40k worth of songs, and Kodi handles it no problem. The only real problem is that it takes forever to initially scan in...... haha like days.

If I understood you correctly the problem was with picard and not kodi? There are some posts about similar problems on the picard forums, but no solution apart from doing smaller batches (but the posts I found was from like ~2012). When I have been using picard I have done a couple of hundreds songs at a time and it have worked fine for me!

I use jaikoz and songkong. They both do a great job of renaming. You can pretty much do any kind of file mask you want based on some simple javascript. However they are both commercial products but have free trials. Jaikoz is more hardcore as it allows you to get an in depth view of all your files while songkong is more of a click it and forget it type setup, very easy to use without nearly as many options. Either program should be able to rename all your files and / or even auto tag everything if your music is in disarray.

Here are the links for them: http://www.jthink.net/songkong/ and http://www.jthink.net/jaikoz/
