It cannot resolve the hostname. Does your AppleTV have network access?

yes, it's connected via LAN into an airport express (used as a repeater) but since this has been brought up I will do a direct modem connection when I get home today.

Either Sam's website is down, or you have a problem with the network connection. That's why it says 'svn.stable.com ... failed: Name or service not known.'

Giving the Apple TV a direct connection to my router worked like a charm! I guess my Airport Express doesn't grant connection during boot up, who knows why…
now for some reason I've lost use of my remote, no idea what's happened.
