Are these big enough to put Win7 and XMBC on in an HTPC?

Not a problem - How to Optimize SSD Boot Drive?
Make sure you enable AHCI in your BIOS for performance.
To gain space, Disable Hibernation also Disable System Restore ( Back up you drive if you do this)
Disable Page File (System Needs at Least 4GB's of RAM)
You should be well under 18GB by doing these 3 steps.

The rest of the guide is entirely up to you.

Thanks. I'm just getting started acquiring the pieces, not really sure of what all I need.

You won't know what you need till you decide what you want it to do -
Your Very First HTPC? But Where do You Start?

I think the Big 3 on the Wish List are (read WISH LIST)
1) Small
2) Quiet
3) All the horsepower you can get.

For AMD - A6-3500
For Intel - Intel Core I3-2120T

It may put your budget over the top, but all the hard work is done for you. Just build what is on the list and enjoy. The road to success is a short ride.

If you are on a small budget, you can still find the answers and help you need. Start a New Thread and someone will help you.
