Cannot enable hardware acceleration with Radeon 9000 on XBMCbuntu
#1
I installed XBMCbuntu on my machine and noticed that video was very choppy. I tried to install the ATI driver for oneiric ocelot, but whenever I start aticonfig, I get aticonfig: adapter not supported. How do I install the correct drivers and enable hardware acceleration with XBMCbuntu oneiric and an ATI Radeon 9000 card?
Thanks

That's because the Radeon 9000 is below minimum system requirements, and HW acceleration isn't supported on this model.

Minimum ATI card is the X800, using the R420 chip. Radeon 9000 uses R200 Chip

FYI, Google is your friend.

Thanks for the heads up. Posting this question was my last resort after a day of googling this subject and misinterpreting the ubuntu manuals:
http://manpages.ubuntu.com/manpages/onei...eon.4.html
I saw it on that support list and figured I was not installing right. Thanks again!

No worries.

FYI, look for a cheap Nvidia 6150 graphics card. They are fanless and cheap and AGP. Though didn't note if your's was AGP or PCIe.
