Thanks
- To Team XBMC for making XBMC (http://xbmc.org/contribute/donate/)
- To djh_ for designing Aeon.
- To Jezz_X for making Confluence, it was the basis for this skin.
- To all translators.
- To all other skinners for makings skins from which we used code or inspiration. (esp. team blackbolt/black for xperience)
- To all people who commented in this thread and submitted bug reports.
- ..and especially to big_noid from my side of course for reworking the complete old Aeon base and adjusting this skin "series" to eden back then
as well as for all the work he put in for 3.0 release and the always enjoyable and constructive partnership we had.
i think this is a good example that collaboration for skins can work out quite nicely.
EDIT Big_Noid:
- I would like to say thanks to Phil65 for working together on this skin. He's really one of the most talented skinners out there and has had some of the most innovative ideas I've seen in a long time.

all feedback is very much appreciated.

FAQ

Q: xbmc crashes sometimes. why?
A: try disabling moviesets addon if you have that installed. if that does not work, please post the debug log here in the forums or, even better,on our github issues page

Q: I lost all my settings after the auto-update took place.. what can i do?
A: Unfortunately this was unavoidable for 3.0. If you really do not want to re-setup and use 3.0 then just rollback to the old 2.0 version, you´ll have everything back like it was before. (can be done in settings --> addons)

Q: The Dim screensaver doesn´t turn off after appearing. is this a skin bug?
A: no, it´s not, seems to be an xbmc bug (probably windows-only). no other possibilty than changing/deactivating the screensaver atm.

Q: Nox 3.0 doesn´t show up in addon browser.
A: press "c" when "xbmc.org" repository is focused and then "force refresh"

Q: Why is there a busy dialog (spinning circle) for 10 seconds everytime I startup XBMC?
A: This has been done to give the startup scripts time to execute. You can press ESC or any navgation key to go to the Home menu immediately.

Q: Adding favourites as home menu entries does not seem to work. only a weird cluttered window appears:
A: look for something like
Code:
<setting type="string" name="skin.aeon.nox.Nox.CustomHomeItem1.Path">ActivateWindow(10025,"W:\Musikvideos\",return)</setting>
in guisettings.xml in your userdata folder.

and remove the 2
Code:

Figured out my question from earlier, so edited it. (Make sure you do a force update on your XBMC.org repository before trying to install the skin Wink)

Absolutely amazing skin by the way! Good job! Really excited to get this setup. Thanks!

No I just forgot to update the repository. Thanks again though!

wtf?
Was this version supposed to install itself over 2.0?
I fired up XBMC, went to get a drink and when I came back this version was on, looks like I lost all my custom flags and such...
Anything I can do to revert back so I can copy my flags?
Confused

You could try a rollback. But really if you have customized a skin you should rename it to be able to keep auto update on.

Argh...
Rollback of xbmc or Windows?

of the skin --> addons-->skin-->aeon nox-->info-->rollback

EDIT: That would probably just restore the stored zip of 2.0.0 and not your personal copy.

Congratulations Phil and BN!

It's been quite fun following this through it's development watching it turn into what it has become. And being a small part of it tossing in the occasional bugs and suggestions.

Phil hopefully we don't see you disappear again, it's great having you around. (Still have Aeon65 installed, it's a classic) BN, you're just a machine when it comes to keeping NOX up to date through out it's life and it's so very much appreciated the time you put in. I still say having you two working together on it was a perfect match.

Aeon Nox 3.0 is truly a wonderful skin to use on a daily basis and really ups what you can expect a skin to do with XBMC.

Also, yay some of my screen shots made it to the launch page Big Grin

then this should be a good example for you that you should always backup customizations. nothing we can do in that aspect, updating will always overwrite all files.

Just a small tiny question for those of us that have been keeping Nox 3.0 up to date with GiT. Still going to be using that for future updates? Or, should we just switch it over to the version on repo?

Since I started using Nox it is always fun to wake up, update GiT and see what new things have been put in Smile
ArieS, it's good practice to backup any customized stuff you add to a skin whether it's code changes or media files. I and I'm sure many have learned that just as you have. It's frustrating when you get bit by it, but we learn and soldier on.

On the bright side, 3.0 has so many good things building off a very good 2.0. Hopefully you can some solace in the new features it brings to your media collection. Plus, half the fun is tinkering with our Media, skins and XBMC in general. Take what you've learned and use it to make what you had even better Smile
