Alternative to Antec ISK300-65
#1
So in my endless search for an Antec ISK300-65, I've come to the conclusion that this case isn't available from any reliable vendor for any reasonable price. I've ordered it from two separate vendors who have it listed on their site but have since been told they are out of stock. I've checked with several other sites that say it's available, but further inquiry tells me otherwise. So I need an alternative.

Here's my equipment list, everything else has been purchased and is in route so i don't want to switch it out for a case that won't work. I want a small form factor ... though I would be willing to purchase a case that i could put an internal optical drive in. I *Could* get a different mobo if necessary, but i'd rather not. I hope to find one that is already designed to handle the picoPSU.

CASE: TBD
PSU: picoPSU 160
MOBO: ASRock Z77E-ITX LGA 1155 Intel Z77 HDMI SATA 6Gb/s
APU: Intel Core i7 3770S processor 3.1 4 LGA 1155 BX80637I73770S
RAM: Crucial Ballistix Tactical 4GB DDR3 SDRAM Memory Module - BLT2KIT2G3D1869DT1TX0
FAN: Scythe BIG SHURIKEN 2 Rev B. 5
HD: Crucial 64 GB m4 2.5-Inch Solid State Drive SATA 6Gb/s CT064M4SSD2
OS: Win7 Pro 64 + XBMC
REMOTE / Keboard: Logitech Harmony One & iPazzPort Pro Mini (Black) KP-810-10-A
ANTENNA: Mohu MHANT 1000
TUNER: HD HomeRun Dual

I have gift cards from NewEgg & Amazon so those would be my preferred outlets - but I'd rather just find the right case.
The Mi7 (full specs)
HTPC: Antek ISK 300 | Pico 160 | ASRock z77E | i7 3770S | GSkill Ares 8GB | BigShuriken 2 | Crucial 64 SSD

how about ISK300-150 ? I think they're the exact same size/design. only difference is the psu.. or at least that's what i thought

I don't think you're going to find a case that handles the 4-pin mini-DIN power jack without some modification or mounting hardware. Your best bet might be to find a mini-ITX case that has a SFX power supply, remove it and use a SFX mounting plate.

For some reason, I think that Intel Core i7 3770S will look good in this "LIAN LI Black Aluminum PC-Q15B Mini ITX HTPC case".......it included a very nice 300W PSU too......

How rude bluray - i've already gone way over budget and now you're teasing me with this ... for shame ... for shame!!! :-)

Meanwhile, i'll check it out and see how to get a pico inside of it :-)

Cheers!

To me, a powerful CPU (Intel Core i7-2770S) deserved a nicer case to match it.......to save cost, you can try it with stock Lian Li PSU and Intel CPU cooler (both are suppose to be good quality and fairly silent) first.....with "Cool N quiet" option and set fan level to 1, it'll be very silent.....if it is still noisy, you can add Pico PSU and Shuriken later.....

LOL, i hear ya. I've already got all the other stuff ordered, so it's more about matching the parts. the only thing left to decide right now is what ot do about an optical drive ;-).

@helpermonkey-

After you complete building your Intel Core i7 3770S with Lian Li PC-Q15B, you will have the nicest and most powerful HTPC in this forum.......Nod

If you're talking about spending north of $150 on a mini-ITX HTPC case, I'd rather go with something like the Iwill HT100 or the similar but more expensive Origenae m10.

The HT100 is less than half the Origenae m10 shipped and very similar -- like Toyota vs. Lexus Smile.

Since $355 is too much for the M10, I would step down to "HTPC-FC8-OD-Black. Mini HTPC aluminum chassis" or the Lian Li (which will fit standard BD-ROM) in the earlier post instead........
