for testing and for viewing my best movies it has to be uncompressed/untouched
m2ts or mkv...
step by step I upgrade my SD material to HD..if HD is avaible

if you use a beamer you see directly the difference between compressed or not

with sound...the same thing if you use excellent sound equipment

Scratch one movie from the list. Thor

Watched it last night. The sound was okay, but not awesome, the SFX were unimpressive to say the least.
Even the normal scenes seemed amateurish.
There's a scene where Thor and the chick from Star Wars (yes I know her name) are riding in a car.
The side views out of the car windows are SO apparently green screened that it seemed like a joke.
I was waiting for them to shut the projector off so you'd actually see a green screen.
There were other scenes that appeared to be video and this didn't seem to be intentional.

Overall, this did not put my system under real stress and I even heard my on board video laughing as if to say, "this is all you've got".

@GortWillSaveUs

there a lot of movies like "Thor" there I also expect a "spectacel", but there is
none :-)

I saw on weekend "Reel Steel" in DTS HD extended (most possible audio format)
and...ok...bass was kicking...but surround/SFX....nearlly nothing...
Same with Star Wars 1-6 on blu ray....I saw now on weekend Star Wars 2....
picture...ok..but SFX...not impressive....

But I would add
G.I. Joe...first night battle....this is SFX! :-)

Great article.

+1 I use an untouched Avatar.... I love that scene where it's all black and the space ship is moving.

Also Megamind... there is a scene where he is about to fight and tons of little Robots form his face.... that part there on some other poor systems will struggle and loose frames... but not on mine. Smile

thanks for the link!
I always looking for reference material for picture/sound...
the listed movies...yes...to 50% I agree....50% of the named
movies are not really my favorites....tastes are even different Smile
but...I will have a look to the 50% not liked in order to find
out again, what references are behind...perhaps only for demo
purposes
