Hi sorry I'm a complete noob with the Linux version of xbmc although I used it for 5 years on the old xbox.

I installed xbmcbuntu 11.0 “Eden” from usb on a Dell optiplex GX280. I connected the box to my tv using vga to vga and the sound is connected via a stereo jack lead. I don't have a graphics card with hdmi so have to the the vga/stereo jack option.

Whenever I try to play music on the box I get a "failed to initialise sound device error" but I have managed to somehow get xbmc menu "click" sounds. I have no idea how to setup the sound properly so wondered if anyone could help.

Ive seen in other threads that people have requested the sound device info so ive pasted it below.

Hmm what is your audio output settings currently set to? Try the following

Audio Output Device: default or front:CARD=ICH6, DEV=0
