Can't open movies from my local hdd

Hi all !

I am using now xbmc 11 in my Ubuntu.

When i play Movies from my external hdd or usb, it work fine ! but when i try to play video from my local hdd, nothing Sad

i have this message in my log file :
Code:
ERROR: Playlist Player: skipping unplayable item: 0, path [/home/morao/las vegas parano.mkv]
17:00:10 T:139791379195648   ERROR: InputStream: Error opening, /home/morao/las vegas parano.mkv

I have this message now "One or more items failed to play, Check the log file for details"
I don't understand, if i play from my external hard drive it work perfectly but is not work from my local hard drive it's very strange !!

please help !

Welcome to the XBMC forums.
  • Are you able to play that file on your local disk using a different player outside of XBMC?
  • Do you have at least Read access to that file?
  • Enable debugging in XBMC; attempt to play that file; when you get an error, exit XBMC immediately; upload your debug log (wiki) (xbmc.log) to www.pastebin.com or www.xbmclogs.com and post the URL link to that file here.

i did a chmod 777 on my file, and now i can read my HD Movie !! Smile

Better to chmod 644 on it. Although marking a media file executable will not hurt most of the times, *I* am paranoid enough not to do that...
