Oculus Rift rendering support
#1
Hi there,

The Oculous Rift Virtual reality headset is making huge waves. Dev kits going out in December 2012 for $300 kickstarter pledges.

There's no need to preach to the converted, suffice it to say, greater than IMAX size personal viewing experience.

Xbmc would need to utilise shaders to render a dual side by side fisheye view of the film. Further enhancements could be to render a virtual thearter with the movie playing on a screen.

Thanks for your time.

Stereoscopic Player (http://www.3dtv.at/Products/Player/Index_en.aspx ). It seems to be the first video player with the Oculus Rift support. It looks very promising.

I would love to watch 3D movies with a Oculus Rift. Especially when the improved, higher resolution version is available (next year)?

Any idea if a simple "3D Side by Side" to "Oculus Rift HDMI" renderer is possible?

XBMC13.1 is corresponding to 3D SBS, but are not displayed correctly aspect ratio is 1:1, such as videos of Oculus rift.

Is it likely to support in the near future?

I want to play in XBMC this video in the yotube.

Since they sold it to Facebook oculus is dead to me and I have no intention now to buy it

I was actually thinking that in the future movies will be filmed with 360 camera and you can be in the middle of the action like in the matrix
