HP Thin Client with Displayport.
#1
My office recently has put out an HP t5740 Thin Client to scrap. It's got pretty decent hardware, however it has displayport instead of hdmi out. I'm going to drop in a BCM970015 but I'm unsure if a displayport -> hdmi will support bitstream audio for my receiver to decode.

Does anyone have any experience with an atom system like this and its displayport? It wouldn't be a very good htpc if I have to use the crappy headphone jack and can't get DD or AC3 audio.

Thanks!

Hi Mycah,

I bought a HP t5740 a few months ago, and i can confirm that audio passtrough via displayport is working. If you update the bios to the latest version you can install a Broadcom hd chip and it plays 1080P perfectly. The latest stable version of openelec runs smooth.

They actually sell this version with a pre installed Broadcom hd chip.

Have fun!

Hi,
I installed openelec on my hp t5740
I tried this versions:
* OpenELEC Stable - Intel i386 Version:3.0.0
* OpenELEC Stable - Generic i386 Version:3.0.0

But on both maximum resolution that i can set is 1024x768. Can you please tell me which openelec version are you using?

Thanks
