Ms-tech is the same case.. Isnt that available either?
Anyway , options are:
1 return psu, pay costs return and use case psu
2 same as option 1 and just replace the fan of the case psu
3 use a new sfx psu instead of the case psu

Instead of returning the psu to the shop, i might sell which has cheaper delivery rates Smile

No MS-TECH either -- that's in Germany.

Here in the US, I resell one of the same cases MS-TECH does -- they call it the MC-80, mine is the HT-80.

Bummer about the PSU size mixup. It happens all the time in HTPC to everyone of us eventually. I have a pile of stuff that didn't fit the way I thought it would.

Oh well, shit happens Wink
There are worse things...
Now i have to decide if i go for the case psu or pay 2x delivery price instead of one... And get a new one.. And if i get a new one , i will have to sell the case psu too

Sometimes this is like trail-blazing. You're the first one through and make mistakes,..but the next few people will benefit from the lessons you learned.
Which is another reason I always ask for pictures.

When I built my unRaid server, I also ordered the wrong PSU.
That thing cost $18.00 to ship back to EggHead.
That's why I'd rather buy from Amazon. They don't charge you to ship it back to them.

FWIW I've had several PSU's die on me within a span of months so I like to keep one or two spare PSU's on hand "just in case". Even if it doesn't physically fit inside the case, it'll keep you going until the replacement shows up. (And save you from having to pay BestBuy prices for a crap PSU).

This is a great point. If you're planning more builds in the future, keeping a spare PSU around also helps with diagnosing build problems.

So does a cheap PSU tester -- most can be found around $15. I use a Rosewill one.

SSD bracket is on the way, could have one for free from another forum Smile nice guy!

The case psu looks like this:

Wattage:

+3,3V: 12,9A, +5V: 9,2A (+3,3V en +5V total 88,5W)
+12V1: 9,5A, +12V2: 11,2A (+12V total 248W)
-12V: 0,3A, +5VsB: 2,1A (3,6W en 10,5W respectievelijk)

Hi,

Assuming you are from the lowlands. I am following the same path as you, unraid and all. Bought almost the same config ( am waiting for all parts to arrive) What I did different is buying a pico psu to replace the build in PSU. 120w and 120 watts adapter. The standard PSU is supposed to be loud and dies quickly (that's what I found in several fora) Will be watching this thread closely am curious about your build. Your CPU, what is the TDP a6500 is 65 watt

Good luck with building, hope to see more pica's and things you run into whilst building it. BTW, like your room, very nicely done (jealous mode)

Bios changes made:

Ram frequency was on 1300 , changed it to 1600
AHCI enabled in bios

Installed Win7 64bit +SP1

Stuff enabled/disabled in windows:
01. Confirm Trim is Enabled
02. Disable Hibernation
03. Disable Disk Defragmenter Service
04. Disable SuperFetch Service
05. Disable Windows Defender service
06. Disable Windows Search Service
07. Disable System Restore + Delete All System Restore Points

09. Using a Windows Solid Color as Wallpaper? If so, Follow this Fix!!
10. Disable Windows Logo Animation during boot ups
11. Disable Page File (System Needs at Least 4GB's of RAM)

Installed xbmc eden + hd audio

Then i followed guides from http://forum.xbmc.org/showthread.php?tid=37492

1. Download SilentLaunch extract to C:\
2. Create a text-file on C:\ named SilentLaunch.cfg
3. Check the properties of your XBMC link and add the target information. For instance "C:\program files\XBMC\XBMC.exe" -fs -p
4. Start the SilentLaunch.exe and check if XBMC get started. (If not goto the end of the post)
5. Download InstantSheller set the "Application to shell" as C:\SilentLaunch.exe

Now i'm booted straight away into xbmc without seeing windows stuff

Stuff to do:

- Install Bracket SSD
- Close case and connect with hdmi to the receiver
- Test streaming
- Set library right (this will take lots of time
- PSU fan is more quiet than expected, so i'll keep this one from now
- There will be an extra fan installed to cool extra

You need to do these-

- If you installed Realtek audio codec, you can un-install it
- Update AMD driver from here- AMD Driver Autodetect
- Enable DXVA2 with DXVA as Renderer Method, and disable everything else in XBMC settings/video/playback
- Enable "Use a fullscreen window rather than true fullscreen" in XBMC settings/system/video output
- Select AMD HDMI audio ouput in Windows 7 control panel
- Select HDMI audio output and Audio output Device DirectSound: AMD HDMI Output (AMD High Definition.....) in XBMC audio output

You should be able to playback fluently afterward....

>Alienware X51- do it all HTPC
>Simplify XBMC configurations
>HOW-TO Bitstreaming using XBMC
I refused to watch movie without bitstreaming HD audio!
