apple tv 1 with crystal hd and silicondust hdhomerun - PVR?
#1
I would like to know whether the Apple TV 1 (160gb) hardware processor is powerful enough to record a stream (two streams in fact!) from silicondust hdhomerun.

I searched through to find this but couldn't. The following video shows it can play it just fine:

but I don't know if it can record it - thus making it a full PVR.

It looks like a small device like Seagate Dockstar can record 2 HD streams quite easily:

Thanks.

It should be fine if it's just saving the streams in the format the HDhomerun provides. If you want to convert it to another format on-the-fly, then it might not be up to the task.

thank you for the reply. yes, all i am looking is to record the stream from hdhomerun. i am not looking for commercial skip etc. all i want is to be able to pause/record it - a simple vcr type functionality. as long as i can do it with apple tv 1 - i am happy.

i do have a dockstar, but using the 160GB disk inside the apple tv looks enticing.

also, can you direct me to any guide/post that explains how to do this. i assume i have to install mythtv backend on the apple tv crystalbuntu. for the front end - i guess i could use the mythbox xbmc plugin.

all the guides that i see are for the mythbox frontend on apple tv. can you point me in the correct direction? thanks.

Sorry, I've never used an HDhomerun.
