I finally built the same, and I must say that the noise is not a problem. I have my HTPC my bedroom, always turned on, and by night I can hear nothing. Really!

Ha! much better, thanks guys! (running software as render method, vaapi - off, Vertical blank sync - let driver decide, Adjust display refresh rate to match video - on)

On another note, once every couple boots I'm getting machine check error right after the bios screen. Per recommendation in
http://forum.xbmc.org/showthread.php?tid=129838
run memcheck, but no errors. Will look into prime95 next.

Did you find out about this error? I'm getting the smae one, with the same setup you have...

I know this is a bit OT but I want to use the same case with an equivilant AMD solution allowing bitstreaming/xbmc/win7, can anyone suggest a CPU/Mobo to suit?
