I am trying to get my XBMCRemote app on my iphone to work through my college dorm router but port forwarding is blocked. I also have an Astrill VPN account and I opened the my port through the VPN it assigned me to 50680 but still cant get the app to work. My IP adress on the VPN changes every time so i think that could be an issue Any suggestions on what might be going wrong. Is there a way to get the app working through my college router that I dont know about?
Here are some pics of xbmc settings on my iphone and computer.

I think you need to forward port 9777 as well for sending commands or something

Could someone explain how to forward port 9777. I'm at college on my dorms router.

The remote app uses only the http connection, maybr forwarding port 9777 shouldn't be necessary. Can you try from the iphone safari to connect to xbmc with the same information used in the app:

http://<username>:<password>@<xbmc_ip>:<xbmc_port>

and see if it connects to the xbmc web interface?

@willburstyle06, from the phone safari and with this url:

http://<username>:<password>@<xbmc_ip>:<xbmc_port>

it works? You can use either the hostname in the host field, not necessarily the host ip address.
