Hi all,
I've been using XBMC on my HTPC but my new apartment can only get mobile broadband which only has around 18gb per month. I currently use about 100gb so I'll probably download my shows etc from my parents place once a week.
So I will have my HTPC at my apartment connected to the internet for web browsing but I want all the downloading and scraping to be done on the hard drive from a different computer.
1) Is there a way to do this and store all the fanart and other data on the portable drive, but copy the new tv shows and movies onto the HTPC internal hard drive
2) Alternatively store the videos, movies, and all metadata on the portable drive, so that when I connect to XBMC it just links to the portable drive folder and plays media from there
Essentially I just want to be able to download media, and the metadata from another computer, but play it from my HTPC without needing to connect to the internet at all to update/scrape. Will running xbmc in portable mode allow this?
