Hi Everyone,

I've trawled the forum for the last few weeks but couldn't seem to find an answer.

I'd like to have the ability to send myself and the others in my house an email when a new show/video is added to the library. Alternative this could be done on daily basis with today's update.

Does anybody do anything similar? And can point me in the right direction

use a script that does jsonrcp to update all clients on the lan, or directly use mysql

to actually answer your question;

no, there is no such feature, and it will never, ever, be added to core. that being said, you can easily write yourself a service add-on that does it. or a cron job on some box. just interact with xbmc over the jsonrpc mentioned above to grab the info you need.
