Linux Slight stutter and lip sync
#1
Hi all, just installed Ubuntu and then xbmc on top, I have installed the proprietary drivers.

It seems that when there's a quick movement (like an action movies) it seems not to refresh quickly or it doesn't keep up.

There are settings in the playback but not sure what they all do, is there anything I'm missing , I have the latest catalyst drivers for the radeon 5500

Thanks in advance

Your solution comes with a link:
Code:
http://forum.xbmc.org/showthread.php?t=116996

You can also just swap the installed xbmc version by doing:

Code:
sudo apt-add-repository ppa:wsnipex/xbmc-xvba
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install xbmc xbmc-bin

xbmc runs best, if you directly start it from your login manager rather than in your session.

For a constant lip sync issue, you might tune your advancedsettings.xml - Last time we measured it was about 175ms for 24p. But try it out and come back :-)
First decide what functions / features you expect from a system. Then decide for the hardware. Don't waste your money on crap.
