AMD A10-5800k HTPC Build
#1
I just recently purchased a AMD A10-5800k and a Asus F2A85-M PRO motherboard to start my first HTPC build. I've been reading for months now up until the new apu came out. I've read eskros build and suggestions on parts for the A8-3850 htpc. I plan on using the same case which is the Silverstone MLO3b , but what other parts should I use with this build ?

Here are the parts I ordered.

LOL...thats not helping none. I was wondering can I use the same parts from a Llano build on this one. Such as will the Scythe Big Shuriken fit this motherboard or do anybody recommend a different one ? Is the kingston plug and play memory sticks ok to use , or do you guys recommend something different ?

Yes it will work.

AMD haven't changed there cpu mounts since like socket 939.

So much hardware is the same these days, just find what is the cheapest and suits your needs.

Hi and congrats... yes the shuriken family will fit.

There is this new COOLER MASTER GeminII cooler but I don't know for sure if it will cool you A8.... 100W

Stick some 1866 RAM in it.... http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.as...top-Memory if you plan to game why not just get 8 gigs....

From reviews...

Other Thoughts: This chip needs the higher clockspeed 1866 RAM. Radeon 7660 running at 800Mhz needs the extra ram bandwidth, unlike most CPU's that don't even come close to saturating the bandwidth of DDR3

You'll enjoy your powerful A10-5800k HTPC...

Keep that 80mm mag-lev fan away from your HDD. BTW, love that fan but it's magnetic so just beware.
