Ive got 2 xbmc clients (windows & atv2) using a centralized mysql database running on a synology nas, both clients are on 11.0 stable.

i would like to upgrade to nightlies but am not sure of the implications to the databases.

i imagine the latest nightly to be using different music and video databases to the stable release. if i upgrade would i need to completely update/rescrape my library again? what would happen to the thumbnails on the nas, would these still work? would i be able to rollback to 11.0 without any issues?

From what I understand, when you upgrade XBMC it will create a new database file and copy everything over to it. Your original database should be left in tact allowing you to roll back if needed. To be safe, you could make a backup of your database files before the upgrade. Thumbnails are handled differently now than they were in Eden. I would think those would get migrated over as well though.
