Sad
3 hours I have been trying to connect my iphone to the xbmc on laptop.

I'm so frustrated - any help appreciated.

I have read the step up guides and even turned off the firewall to see if that helps - of course i t didn't.

iphone 4 5.1.1 (jailbreak)
XBMC Commander & XBMC Remote

Windows Vista
Netgear Virgin Modem/Router

thanks

Is your pc and the iphone in the same subnet? (meaning if the iphone is connected via wlan and the pc via ethernet wire you need to ensure that both see each other. This is most likly a setting of the router then).

and to test if you can connect to XBMC from outside the apps, try from the iPhone safari to connect to XBMC with the same information used in the remote apps:

http://<username>:<password>@<xbmc_ip>:<xbmc_port>

Both on same wireless network and both subnet are the same 255.255.255.0

Not sure if this helps -

I can see the XBMC through the airplay option on the iphone (although it never does anything, I cant stream media to it)

But it does see it?.........

Hi, yes it is - I'm just stating that the iphone can see the xbmc,- hoping it may help in finding the solution.

I also note that sometimes when I click on the app 'find xbmc' the Description and HostTongueort inputs turn blue and it doesn't show the message "no xbmc instances were found"

Hi, i do that on laptop and it works - on safari on iphone, it doesnt...
so there is something that prevent the iphone to connect to XBMC. Locally you can, from network you can't. It seems that it's a windows/router firewall issue.
