Hi all,

New to the forums and building a HTPC.

I’m retiring the PS3 from the media server role due to incompatibility with some formats, DLNA errors etc and the fact that XBMC looks so much better. I can put together a system for around $500 (around max budget) running Windows 7 Ultimate and XBMC.

Will be using a Mini-ITX due to size constraints, and will have a wired network connection to grab media off a NAS. PVR and tuner not essential at the moment as I have this available on cable (Foxtel) box. May be an option in the future.

I have a shopping list prepared and thought I’d ask for some feedback:

- Thermaltake Armor A30 Gaming Cube
- Gigabyte GA-H61N-USB3 Mini-ITX Motherboard
- PSU : Generic Micro ATX 400W
- Intel Core i3 2120 3.30Ghz 3MB Cache LGA1155 CPU
- Kingmax 4G PC-10600 1333MHZ DDR3 RAM
- Asus GF GT610 Silent Edition PCI-E 2.0
- LGE CH12LS28 12XBD/16DVDBlack Blue Ray HD
- 500GB 3.5inch HDD
- Some sort of remote connected to the computer. Recommendations? Also keen on iPhone App as an option if anyone has any feedback or thoughts on its use and reliability.

Thought about an SSD but the computer will be on nearly 24/7 and on sleep/hibernate when not in use I would imagine, so boot times not important. Can grab one if presented with reasons otherwise.

Any thoughts or help would be greatly appreciated.
