Just clean installed Windows 8 and then installed XBMC. When XBMC is running (on screen or in the background) one of the hard drives is spinning up then stopping, spinning up then stopping, continously. As soon as i shut down XBMC it stops. XBMC wont play any videos from that hard drive either, but it knows they are there because they are all on the TV shows list.
Its as if it cant access the hard drive.

Hmmm and now Windows is reporting a hard disk is about to fail. I think that's caused by XBMC stopping and starting the drive tho.

I think your drive is failing. There are tools to check HDD status. Take backup of important files before it is too late.

It just seems strange that before i installed Windows 8 all was fine on Vista...

and since updating Windows 8 and rebooting ive not had a problem
