post Alpha5 builds refuse to start with MySQL database enabled
#1
I'm stuck with a problem I can't get my head around.
Currently I'm running XBMC alpha 5 on my ATV2 with a shared library using MySQL. (xbmc_music27 / xbmc_video68)

I would like to upgrade to a more recent build, because I've built "xbmcserver" as described here. Big Grin

But for some strange reason my ATV refuses to start into the GUI as soon as I enable the shared library in advancedsettings.xml
As far as I can tell it's stuck at 'updating the databases'

Quote:19:42:03 T:105926656 NOTICE: Running database version Addons15
19:42:03 T:105926656 DEBUG: Initialize, updating databases...
19:42:03 T:105926656 NOTICE: Running database version ViewModes4
19:42:03 T:105926656 NOTICE: Running database version Textures13

It even restarts after I while; but I was unable to find any crashlogs in the system.

Those are the final entries in my logging of A7.

I tried starting from scratch on A7, rebuilding my library locally, then converting to shared libs; but to no avail.
I ditched the <name> tag for the database, but that didn't help either.

Maybe there's something obvious I've missed? Must be some kind of user error, because I haven't read about such problems before.

Dug a little deeper today and was able to create CrashReporterLogs;

here they are for alpha 6.

Alpha 6 debug log: http://pastebin.com/2r57uEZE
Alpha 6 crash report: http://pastebin.com/6VhAw6eU
Alpha 6 syslog: http://pastebin.com/gRGKGEhF

And for the latest nightly (Oct 29)

Oct 29 debug log: http://pastebin.com/MTb1JPEm
Oct 29 crash report: http://pastebin.com/D5bfe8u7
Oct 29 syslog: http://pastebin.com/udUynvyv

Hope that helps.

Thx for the report. It seems like a build issue on our side. libmysqlclient seems to be built for the wrong deployment target. You are running iOS 4.2.1 (which should be compatible) but libmysqlclient seems to be built against something newer.

Will try to get a solution for this (i think you don't wanna update the atv2 ios version).

Thanks for looking into it. I'd prefer not to upgrade my iOS, but it's something I could look into.
It's been a while since I've jailbroken the device and I'd rather not end up with a less performant iOS version.

Tried the latest nightly (xbmc-20121106-a645762-master-atv2.deb) and it works fine.

I hope you figure out how to solve this permanently, but I'm good for now. :-)

Nahh thats only the poor mans solution for now. But it will stick until after frodo release for sure. Maybe i can utilise you once more in a couple of mins for testing one more build (now i'm curious when apple started to break our builds - obviously its on ios 5 sdk and on ios 6 sdk - i wanna know if its on ios 4.3 sdk broken already). Stay tuned if you are still with me.

Here we go - could you test this version:

and if it crashs - please post the crashlog once more. After that i leave you alone with your working nightlies Wink

It crashed. (Tried twice)

Syslog that covers both (and some sabnzbd crap I thought I'd gotten rid off...)

I hope this is helpful to you.
If you need me to test anything else, don't hesitate to ask.

thx interesting indeed - the crashes are different now. Well it might be that we have to lift the minimum required ios version for xbmc to 4.3 due to this wonkiness after frodo. We'll see what time brings...
