Auto update database on startup with mysql setup
#1
Hi all,

I run my xbmc with a mysql server, i have 2 boxes at home. When something is new in the movie folder i want the box that turns on first to update the library. Both xbmc clients usually are "off" when not in use.

Is there a option or a file one can place on the special:// folder somewhere that when xbmc starts up and sees it, it will do a library update? That way whatever client starts up first will handle it. And if the file is placed while the box was already turned on it could scan for it (or make it clever and just do a json/api call to update then ofcourse)

The real lazy way is just say update library on startup.. but why do a full scan if its not needed.

Just throwing it out in the wild here Wink

Cheers

Enabling "update library on startup" should only update directories with new files/changes.

But if you have a big movie database with 500+ doesn't that still have some impact? I have no clue how much though.

Possible, but it would be the same no matter how you triggered the library update.

What about the addon 'Library Watchdog'?
