Hey guys...ive droned the "how to" forums etc...but there is so much going on and didnt find anything on the first 3 pages I searched so feel free to move this. I was wondering if it was possible to fully control xbmc with a STB remote. I have insight cable and I currently use that remote to turn on/off tv...turn up/down volume...change channels etc. I would like to use it for xbmc..but I stream videos from the pc where i load xbmc onto my remote..Im sure there is a way to do this.

Does the TV support CEC?
You basically have two options, CEC and
Flirc (wiki).

As for using the STB remote you would need at least a receiver (connected to your HTPC) that "speaks" the same
frequency and signal type as your remote IR/RF whatever

From a quick google, Sony Bravia KDL-46V2500 has CEC, which Sony calls "BRAVIA Theatre Sync". You can grab one of these:

and in theory you should be able to have a smooth set up with the TV remote controlling XBMC.

As long as the XBMC version in use has libcec support, IIRC Eden doesn't but idk if that's entirely accurate since I haven't used Eden in a million years.
