xbmc on WinServer 2008R2 + no hardware acceleration
#1
Hello xbmc users,
I would like to be a "user" as well, but atm I'm hanging at the install procedure. Wink

I want to run xbmc on a Win Server 2008 R2 version with the onboard graphic card, which doesn't support any acceleration mode.

Things I've tested so far are:

-Install Desktop Feature
-Enable Hardware Acceleration (gpu doesn't support it) in windows advanced graphic settings

I still get the following error in log file:
CRenderSystemDX::CreateDevice - initial wanted device config failed
ERROR: CRenderSystemDX::CreateDevice - unable to create a device. 8876086A - D3DERR_NOTAVAILABLE (Not available)
FATAL: CApplication::Create: Unable to init rendering system
ERROR: CRemoteControl::Connect - failed to connect

Is there a way to get xbmc running?
I'm not using a remote desktop connection, but can't install another graphic card either.

Maybe there is a way to deactivate the nice view, but use it anyway?

The purpose of running it on the server is to allow other clients to use the data from this central point with upnp.

Thanks in advance...

Maybe this is not implicitly a WinServer2008R2 related solution.

Is it possible to use XBMC with graphic card on board (no acceleration) at all?
Is there a way to run the server without the nice fancy display options? Maybe configure everything on a pc and put the config on the server and start xbmc with a parameter to not use display?

Hopefully someone can help me. Blush
