Hi,
I want to buy a little box for xbmc and after some researches in many different forums I ended on two possible solutions.
1. Apple TV 1 + Crystal HD Card
2. PivoS Xios DS + Linux XBMC
The price for both solutions will be equal..
Are their any disadvantages on one of these two?

I recently went the ATV1 + CHD route myself, i picked up two of them. The pivos appears to be in the midst of very active development, and depending on what features you need things may work or may not (need to play 1080P over https? I've asked and continually get ignored so who knows if that is possible). In my case that functionality works flawlessly on the ATV 1 running crystalbuntu. Outside of being something new that you don't have to get off ebay/craigslist i don't know of any advantages the pivos currently has. A year from now the small cheap android boxes are going to be very exciting but currently they all seem under powered, buggy and feature incomplete. If you want something to tinker with as a secondary device go pivos, if you want something that just works go ATV 1.

Hi thanks for your anwser..
I also have the problem of buying a pivos as I live in europe...
Is it possible to add a wireless stick to the atv and use airplay? I read that the new xbmc version is supporting this..
I dont need https but of cause I want 1080p and sourround sound.
I also have the problem that my old reciever dont have hdmi. So ether I have an optical audio output or I have to loop trough the audio signal from hdmi -> TV -> reciever. Is this possible?
I tested a WD TV Live before and the loop trough worked but the handling was very bad, so I sent it back.
When there are no real disadvantages with the atv1+crystal hd I will go for that combination
