Hardware for small fanless linux build?
#1
I'd like a small, fanless, linux based HTPC build. Will be used to stream 1080p to a panasonic 65vt50.

Say, in a Streacom FC5. Micro-ATX or Mini-ITX, doesn't matter.

I can go intel core i3, but then I'd be hit by the 24fps bug.
I can go amd trinity, but then I'd be hit by the fact that they can't do bitstreaming under linux.

Would it be possible to use an extra card in the streacom?
Or maybe wait until the one of the two platforms have their bugs fixed? (Might be never...)

Am I alone with these simple wishes?

You are not alone. I've been looking for a while.
Have you found anything yet?
Fanless Linux HTPC/NAS: Streacom FC10, ASUS P8H77-M PRO, i3-3225, Corsair LP White DDR3-1600, picoPSU-150-XT, 1x SSD 840, 2x HDD WD Red 3TB
Stats: 29W idle, 55W load, CPU 38-43°C idle, CPU 55-60°C load, HDD 42-43°C idle, HDD 47°C load

Does it need to be fanless, or can it just be silent?
