Well first off, what OS are you planning to run on the SD card? Something like openlec is designed to run on a flash card. I have 3 systems that run off SD cards that have been running that way for a couple years without an issue, on top of that some of those system I've reinstalled builds more times than I can count. Bootup time on a cold boot is under 15 seconds. Also, I don't really see how mysql would be a solution for what you want (yes there are other reasons to use mysql, ex. multiple clients with a synced library) but specifically for reduced wear I think it's a lot of work for no real benefit.
If anything, you should look at ways to tweak the OS (for an sd card I'd only be considering linux) to reduce unnecessary writes.
