sorry, if someone wrote this earlier. I don't believe, that there will ever be one perfect remote app for the most of us.The greatest thing with XBMC is, that you can modify it in a way, that you can do allmost erverything you wish. And then you wish to have a remote to control everything. The only way to do this is in my opinion a tablet or phone with an fully customizable XBMC with some extras. It must be possible to control the output of the tablet or the phone AND of the XBMC-server. Then you can select, if the tablet plays the music or the server streams it to the airplay speaker for example or both happens. Same to the videos or the radio or ...
Now we have XBMC for Android and I hope, the developers will make this possible. Or is this already possible right now?
