Win [SOLVED] XBMC Frodo Beta 2 - Win 7 - 5.1 Audio
#1
Hi Guys,

Let me start by saying, I'm very new to XBMC.

My current setup consists of XBMC Frodo Beta 2 on top of Win 7. I have an HP Microserver with a SAPPHIRE HD6450.
I've installed latest drivers.

I have an LG AVR and the conenction goes like this: HDMI from Microserver to AVR -> HDMI from AVR to TV.

In Windows Control Panel -> Sound I can test 5.1 audio output successfully: all speakers play correctly.

When I play a 5.1 video file from within XBMC the AVR states the audio encoding correctly (DTS, DD, etc) but always says that it's 2.1, never 5.1.

What am I doing wrong?

System->Audio and set it to 5.1 and check all the stuff below (DTS...)

Hi TeKo,

thank you for your reply. This is what I have exactly (but not the HD, since doing so is producing stuttering, probably not a HD capable receiver).
The files I'm testing are NOT HD, they are simple DTS or DD.

First of all check your Windows setting using this wiki page Windows Settings for AudioEngine for how things should be, then if still problems then refer to my trouble shooting guide [Windows] How To Trouble Shoot Audio (from Frodo)

It seems that it was an AVR issue after all. Thank you for your replies!

If you are referring to CEC, my Onkyo work fine with it.....here are the settings-

In Hardware Setup -> HDMI
Audio TV Out - On
HDMI Control (RIHD) - On
Power Control - On
TV Control - On
