XBMC Beta 3 on Windows & Linux VDR?
#1
Hi.

I'm trying to get Live-TV working on XBMC. XBMC (Frodo Beta 3) is installed on a Windows 7-64bit OS and is running just fine. My plan is to connect it to a VDR-backend running on a different Ubuntu machine (Precise Penguin 64bit) in the next room. Is that even possible? All my efforts have failed so far. I have added yavdr/stable-vdr to my repository list and installed VDR and the VNSI-server-plugin from it. apt-cache policy shows this information:

apt-cache policy vdr-plugin-vnsiserver
vdr-plugin-vnsiserver:
Installed: 0.9.0.git20120606-0yavdr1~precise
Candidate: 0.9.0.git20120606-0yavdr1~precise
Version table:
*** 0.9.0.git20120606-0yavdr1~precise 0
500 http://ppa.launchpad.net/yavdr/stable-vdr/ubuntu/ precise/main amd64 Packages
100 /var/lib/dpkg/status

However I cannot connect XBMC to the server - the client reports "Connection Lost" and in the syslog of the ubuntu machine I find:

Dec 9 15:28:37 vdr: [8427] VNSI: Client with ID 18 connected: 192.168.0.135:50726
Dec 9 15:28:37 vdr: [9363] VNSI-Error: Client 'XBMC Media Center' have a not allowed protocol version '3', terminating client
Dec 9 15:28:47 vdr: [9363] VNSI-Error: cxSocket::read: read() error at 0/4

Can anyone provide some assistance?

Thanks!
Best Regards
Ix

The plugin in yaVDR ppa is not compatible with Frodo. Either you compile the plugin yourself or use vdr from standard Ubuntu ppa + this plugin: https://launchpad.net/~wsnipex/+archive/...ba-testing
