HD DVD frame rate=29.970??
#1
Hi guys,
I have just noticed that when I play a HDDVD (mkv) movie file and I bring up the display screen it shows the frame rate as 29.970!!! i am sure this has only just recently started but i havnt done anything to my XBMC installation. All Bl's are fine just HDDVD's. Any one got any idea why this should be happening? I have tried 'adjust display frame rate to match video' , which I noprmally have un-checked cause I have never had any problmes in the past.

That's the standard NTSC framerate, PAL is 25fps and cinema is 24fps, are you having problems with the playback?

NTSC and pal should not be encoded for hddvd. They are 24 just like blu' and yes there is noticeable audio drops and also frame drops every minute or so. This has only recently started happening

Most HD DVD's are VC-1 and all VC-1 HD DVD's are 29.970 because they contain pulldown flags.
If you remove the pulldown flags the video stream will be 23.976.

When I ripped my HD DVD's along time ago now via tsMuxer I used 'Remove pulldown' so they would be 23.976.

If they play OK you could just leave them.
